Bathyesthesia
A general term for all sensation from the tissues beneath the skin, such as the joints, muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments. A joint is a place where two bones contact each other. Tendons are groups of fibers that attach muscles to a bone. A ligament is a tough band of tissue that attaches to joint bones. Ligaments normally prevent the joint from moving too much. Bathyesthesia is also known as bathesthesia and deep sensibility. Bathyesthesia comes from the Greek word "bathys" meaning "deep," and the Greek word "aesthesis" meaning "sensation." Put the words together and you have "deep sensation."
