Facet has the following meanings in the field of medicine:

1. A small and smooth area on a bone or other firm structure.

2. A small and smooth natural growth from a bone or other firm structure that forms a joint. For example, there are facets of the vertebrae, which are bones that form an opening that the spinal cord passes through.

3. A flat, highly polished worn away spot on a tooth that is caused by grinding or chewing.

Facet comes from the French word "facette" meaning "little face."
