Facies has the following meanings in the field of medicine:
1. The front part of the head, including the skin and muscles, as well as the structures of the eyes, nose, mouth, chin, cheeks, jaw, and forehead, but not the ears. This definition of facies is also known as face.
2. A certain expression or appearance of emotion on the face that is made by moving facial features. Although this definition of facies is also known as face, facies, rather than face, is often used to describe medical conditions in which the appearance on the face is abnormal and is characteristic of a particular condition.
3. The surface of any body part, organ, or solid structure. This definition of facies is also known as face.
Facies is Latin for "appearance."
