Gastroatonia is a rarely used term for a loss of tone (a normal level of tension) in the stomach. This loss of tension causes the stomach to be weak. Gastroatonia comes from the Greek word "gaster" meaning "a belly," and the Greek word "atonia" meaning "weakness." Put the words together and you have "weakness (of) a belly."
