Gastrolith means a solid substance in the stomach that has been formed by several smaller parts. A gastrolith is also known as a gastric calculus. The condition of having one or more of these substances in the stomach is known as gastrolithiasis. Gastrolith comes from the Greek word "gaster" meaning "a belly," and the Greek word "lithos" meaning "stone." Put the words together and you have "a belly stone."
