Labiodental has the following meanings in the field of medicine:
1. Pertaining to the lips and the teeth.
2. Pertaining to the lip-facing surfaces of the twelve front teeth.
3. Indicating certain letters of the alphabet or sounds of speech that are formed by both the lips and the teeth. Labiodental comes from the Latin word "labium" meaning "lips," and the Latin word "dens" meaning "tooth." Put the two words together and you have "lips (and) tooth."
