Obstipation
1. Blocking of the intestines. The intestine is a tube shaped structure that is part of the digestive tract, helping to break down and absorb food.

2. Severe, extreme, continuing constipation (difficulty pooping) that is not easily cured. It is caused by blocking of the intestines (see above).

3. A process of blocking.

Obstipation comes from the Greek word "ob" meaning "against," and the Greek word "stipo" meaning "to crowd." Put the two words together and you have "to crowd against."
