q.d.
1. A medical abbreviation that refers to taking medication every day or once a day. q.d. stands for the Latin phrase "quaque die," meaning "every day." This abbreviation is also written as qd, QD, Q.D., or quotid (because the Latin word "quotidianus" means "daily."

2. An abbreviation for quartile deviation. The quartile deviation is the average of the differences between the quartiles (any one of three values that divide a set of numbers into four equal groups, such as 25, 50, and 75 in a group of 100) and the median. The median is a value in an ordered set of numbers that is in the middle or is the average of two middle numbers if there is no one middle number. For example, for the numbers 3, 5, and 7, the number 5 is the median since it is in the middle. For the numbers, 3, 5, 6, and 7, the number 5.5 is the median since it is the average and the two middle numbers, 5 and 6. Quartile deviation is also abbreviated as qd, QD, or Q.D.
