Supplemental motor cortex
An area near the middle of the brain that can move the muscles of all the body parts if it is electrically stimulated. It is mainly responsible for muscle posture and muscle tone (tension). Damage to this part of the brain cause involuntary grasping. This part of the brain corresponds to where Brodmann's area 6 is located. Brodman's areas are 47 different brain regions located on on a map of the brain created by the German anatomist, Korbinian Brodman. Brodmann’s area expands over the middle part of the cerebral hemisphere and is represented on both sides of the brain.
